Once the jardin's Raspberry Forest was exhausted last month (read Raspberry Forest), all eyes turned to the blackberries.
The blackberry forest is designed intentionally to be in the back alley. The benefit is giving it a place to go wild without prickling jardin visitors and taking over all other jardin crop.
On the other hand, it is now almost in public domain and neighbours access it day and night. So the yield is not as extensive as it was for the raspberries.
Having said this, with daily pickings, this mini forest presented such a blackberry bowl almost every evening.
What to do with all this blackberry?
Well, my invasion of a real blackberry forest (read Blackberry Adventure) meant I now have all the blackberry syrup I want (read Blackberry Syrup).
So when a bowl is picked up, the best treat is to invade it fresh - a perfect after dinner dessert and a distraction from a white and creamy, cholesterol and fat packed, dessert options.
But I always make sure I leave a dozen or so to go in the fridge and enjoy with my morning cereal the next day.
It has been a nice ritual throughout the last month, but it seems the season is wrapping up this week.
But the plant is strong and healthy and plans in the work to climb it on the garage roof, allowing for better sharing with neighbours.
