Thank You Marché St. George

I've always thought Marché St. George as a unique impressive hang out. What they did tonight impressed me even further.

They organized a fundraiser to help People Power for Playgrounds' efforts building a playground in Little Mountain neighbourhood.

A mellow evening hanging out at Marché, sipping excellent wine and munching on oysters, sausages, vegetables and cheeses.

What a brilliant idea and a pleasurable evening. Another reason to fall in love with Marché St. George.

RauDZ

It felt that everywhere I turned in Kelowna someone mentioned RauDZ

While typically hyped up restaurants do not impress in reality, RauDZ is an exception. It is amazing in its ambiance, service, food and value for money

The waiter was so proud, and rightly so, of the freedom he is given to create cocktails from local ingredients

His Twenty Four Carrot is gold standard for sure - maple (local) carrot reduction with ginger, lemon and three liquors

I could have drank all night

And I could have eaten all night

Everything sourced locally, including the edible flowers

Very few restaurants manage to deliver on four pillars of great eating:  exceptional quality, beautiful presentation, sufficient amounts at a good price. RauDZ delivers on all

This is the Bison Flat Iron. A lucky excellent choice for dinner

And I am glad someone mentioned that the Cesar salad is very good too. It is the best Cesar salad I have had in my life

Flying Pig Remains A Favourite

I discovered The Flying Pig three years ago. I have visited it, on average, once every year and it continues to impress on every level - food, service, ambiance and value for money

And three years later, they still excel on the best brussels sprouts in the city. Never visit the Flying Pig without ordering this side

Severe Tibisti Addiction

Yes, I cannot resist Tibisti - this is my third visit in four months (and sure going back there).

This time the theme was 'ultimate carnivore' feasting.

Chicken, steaks, ribs and lamb - each with the right combination of spicing and flavours that will work well only with that type of meat. This chef is a meat cooking magician.

A great gear-up to upcoming Lebanon trip in a month. For those not able to join me, you have Tibisti.

Wacky Mini Cake

It is no secret I adore sweet e's productions, but this mini coconut cake took my adoration level up to the power 10.

It is a white cake with a touch of coconut, covered with cream sprinkled with coconut.

But most adorable is the size of this cake.

It is mini in a wacky way that makes it a perfect catsess cake - beautifully put together, a pleasure to eat and a cake to dream about buying again (and again).

Sunday @ Green Lemongrass

Sunday January 20, 2013 I wrote an article titled Sunday @ Green Lemongrass

Two years later, I continue to go to Green Lemongrass on Sundays and it still serves exceptionally freshly made good food with the nicest service.

This Sunday, I tried their pineapple milkshake, a definite repeat order.

But the usually repeated order is my favourite beef satay with Vietnamese spring rolls over noodles.

Add an extra order of spring rolls and you can have a delicious meal for less than...

No wonder this place has a 92% Like on Zomato Urban Spoon.

Friday Meal

Friday is a day of prayer for Muslims. And given my respect for all religions, I find having lunch at Al-Watan on a Friday very spiritual.

So I dragged a helweh with me and we went for our regulars; starting with a Pakistani tea for her and a mango lassi for me.

Of course, I cannot go to my favourite Al-Watan without ordering the Biryani.

Along with it, a selection of other dishes and a potato stuffed Naan.

I so love my lunches at Al-Watan.

Surprising Minami

I bet one of you is now saying "how many times are we going to read about Minami in one year".

My reply "this is the price of reading a quality food blog and Minami being a quality food place".

Today, we left it in the hands of our server to surprise us with the new and the favourites.

The Aburi chicken surprised nicely with its subtle soy garlic pink peppercorn sauce and elegant presentation.

But nothing as elegant as the hands of my lovely lunch guest.

The favourite rolls rolled on the table along with a surprise.

This summer's special roll, as I remember, has a berry reduction or topping that was the best of sweet on savoury.

My Favourite Wacky Office

My favourite wacky office is at my favourite chocolate place....

... which serves the best hot chocolate and the best sandwiches in the city....

.... which gives me enough energy to go back to work, or to day dream and enjoy my after work dessert.

Two Carnivores Meet for Lunch

At a perfect place for the two carnivores - Campagnolo

It wasn't all meat though, we did enjoy a lovely piece of fresh Buratta flown from Italy to balance the meat (but not necessarily reduce the fat or cholesterol content of the day).

Otherwise, it was pizza and their famous salumi board which, on its own, feeds 4.

But the real carnivores' treat was the steak tartar, a sure treat completely decadent.

Any dessert, asks our server. I don't think so (after we cleaned up all), what I need is a direct zip to bed for an afternoon nap.
