My Dear Lovely Neighbour

My Dear Lovely Neighbour, you cannot get more adorable than walking in with your home cooked meal in this lovely 'container'.

You continuously spoil us and we love you for spoiling us.

You are an inspiration for strength, thoughtfulness, generosity, love, and wittiness.

Olly Jolly for My Dear Lovely Neighbour. Life at somerville kitchen would have been too drab without you.

Thank you!

My Dear Lovely Neighbour Strikes Again

This time with a lovely spread of innovations from a day of cooking.

My Favourite was the Kafta - a mix of Lebanese and Indian spicing to the meat, baked over potatoes. It was amazing. As for the dal...

The dal was in fact excellent, until I ate a big green items thinking it is a curry leave only to find out, late in the game, that it was a hot chilli pepper. But that did not restrain me from trying the spiced rice which was exceptional.

Hmmm, funny how all platters were cleaned up. Do we think all loved this dinner???

Olly Jolly Says No More Bento Boxes

(Read Olly Jolly Count Your Blessings as Background)

After being caught ordering a Bento Box for dinner, My Dear Lovely Neighbour dropped off a full home made dinner so not to see me ordering Bento Boxes again.

So what were our delicacies tonight? A delicious dal (you must see the size of these hot peppers in the dal) with spiced up salmon and fried herring.

With a bitter melon and potato dish.

Olly joins me in saying Olly Jolly for having you My Dear Lovely Neighbour.

Boxing Day Italian Style

My dear lovely neighbour gathered her closest, and her beautiful Silver, to a lovely Italian style boxing day dinner.

Among laughter, wine, cats and food, the intimate group enjoyed a delicious freshly baked home made meat lasagna.

This was served with salad and garlic bread.

And as if this was not enough, a rack of ribs came out of the oven with Italian style smashed potatoes and my favourite Brussel sprouts.

As per the previous two nights of festivities, the evening wrapped up with yet another Sweet e's delicacy - silky flourless chocolate cake.

Rice with Mustard Seeds Week

Today, My Dear Lovely Neighbour showed up with a picnic.

And continuing from yesterday's theme (Read Back to the Kitchen), rice with curry leaves and mustard seeds was served.

However, this rice was (a) way better spiced and (b) soaked in yogurt; making for a delicious savoury white and creamy dish.

The picnic also included spicy vegetables and a perfect lentil vegetable soup.

I contributed a spontaneous summer salad with lettuce, blueberries, pears and blue cheese; drizzled with sesame oil and crushed pepper.

Thank you My Dear Lovely Neighbour!

Welcome Back My Dear Lovely Neighbour

With the cross oceans adventures of myself and that of My Dear Lovely Neighbour, it has been over four months since my last My Dear Lovely Neighbour meal.

So tonight made up for it with a spicy, varied delicious meal.

Along with the cutest dinner guest.

On the menu tonight: The fresh shrimp

The favourite potatoes

 The cabbage rice

And the almost white and creamy dessert

Thank you my dear lovely neighbour

Best Food Delivery Ever

My Dear Lovely Neighbour can sense my fatigue levels remotely - on every night I am to arrive home late and exhausted, dinner shows up at my door steps.

Spicy prawns to boost immune system and a salad to inject vitamins to combat flu.

What My Dear Lovely Neighbour refers to as simple is really a sophistication of spice mixing for eggplants with a touch of yogurt at the end that revives the spirit and awakens the senses.

Thank you again and again My Dear Lovely Neighbour.

Thank You Again

My Dear Lovely Neighbour,

There is nothing more comforting than coming home at the end of a long day knowing you are serving a lovely dinner.

Whether simple or fancy, your food is always inventive, new, healthy and delicious.

Even though for some dishes, I am better at taking their pictures than remembering their names or what goes in it.

But the best waits till last, a white and creamy favourite dessert to send me to bed sleepy and content.

Thank you again My Dear Lovely Neighbour.

My Dear Lovely Neighbour Goes Clay

My Dear Lovely Neighbour invited me for the inauguration of her clay pot.

Chicken braised slowly with an abundance of Indian spices that will clear any illness. Served with a thick sauce made from the pot's gravy along with pancakes.

The simplicity of the chicken matched the simplicity of the salad.

These grilled sweet peppers and shallots were served over spinach leaves and no dressing - an amazing simple combo.

The least I could do is bring over a couple of the delicious Trafiq tartlets.

Burger Night

What a lazy weekend. I am so grateful for the leftovers (Read Indonesian Week) and to My Dear Lovely Neighbour for bringing burgers over tonight.

Meat & Potatoes

My Dear Lovely Neighbour is busy cooking.

And I am busy getting hungry and exploring what is for dinner tonight.

A meat and potatoe kind of dinner with infused Indian aromas.

How about those delicious looking patties? I ask.

It seems those are for a special someone and I am to enjoy the mashed potatoes with the meat.

Well, despite not having the patties, I am as always grateful for my meals here.

A Picnic

On a summer day, one crosses the street and finds a picnic ready.

It is more like an Indian Style brunch prepared by, who else, but My Dear Lovely Neighbour.

What was served was unique, tasty, spicy.

The hostess generous and warm and the picnic kicked into a gear a pleasant day.

Thank you My Dear Lovely Neighbour.
