Exceptional Italian in Calgary

There is way more Italian authenticity to Rea's Italian Cucina than the wall murals.

The home style food, the natural ingredients, the accents of the servers and the family running the business.

The experience begins with warm bread and those munchies.

Roasted garlic that tasted like garlic flavoured chestnuts and those addictive roasted hot green peppers (I really loved them).

The antipasti platter looks like it was put together by a mom for a her family.

Delicious meats, olives that looked like a small fruit, and home made pickles.

It went extremely well with the bread.

I chose a plate called Stracci - crepes stuffed with veal and vegetables.

The stuffing was excellent - like a freshly made veal paté. The sauce screamed "I'm made from fresh ingredients".

Their pizza was as home made as they come and so were the home made gnocci.

No wonder Rea's was voted one of the top 3 restaurants in North East Calgary.

But wait, the advice was not to leave without trying their Tiramisu. I am not going to go on about it or I will have to jump on a plane and go back for more.
