Almost a month ago, somerville kitchen launched its cookbook club - a group of cookbook fans living close to each other and come
together once a month. The host for the month features a book and serves
something made from the book; the others bring a book, chat, have fun and lots of learning about cookbooks
and cooking.
Our hostess featured Jerusalem by Yotam Ottolenghi and Sami Tamimi. She is a big fan of Yotam and his book, Plenty, was her cookbook of choice during our first meeting last month.
The pictures, the stories of food in Jerusalem, the recipes were all raved about. And rightly so, it is a good book and the Arabic food recipes in it seem very authentic.
And the humus recipe was the one featured which was authentically tasting. I usually don't go for those fancy cookbooks, but I may break down and pick up this treasure of a cookbook.
What a great idea this somerville kitchen cookbook club is. I highly recommend you start one in your neighbourhood. We are also building a database of all the cookbooks featured, so anyone looking for a new cookbook, you know who to ask.
