Mom made a list of my favourite meals that she is preparing for me.
Today is the first one.
The Arak was poured along with the contents of the pot poured onto a tray.
The Arak was poured along with the contents of the pot poured onto a tray.
Could this be Mehshi Selek?
Mehshi Selek is simply stuffed chard leaves (see full recipe HERE).
The chard in Lebanon is 100% green, unlike the hints of yellow or red we get in the Canadian chard.
It is stuffed with rice, chickpeas, onions, tomatoes and parsley and cooked in lemon juice.
The potatoes that line the pot so the chard does not stick become a delicious lemon potato accompaniment.
But the true accompaniment is tahini sauce with boiled char stems.
See how green they are and how hand chopped in equal sizes by mom?
