The right ingredient is Pearl Wheat (which looks like barley, a bit more oblong and takes longer to cook). Mom's advice is to soak it for at least two days, then pour boiling water on it before cooking. I'm so glad I listened to mom, this dish is deliciously addictive.
Apart from finding the right grain and the intensive soaking, the recipe is simple. 2 cups pearl wheat, 2 cups chicken broth, 2 cups water, 2 cups shredded cooked chicken, salt, all spice, nutmeg and cinnamon. Bring to boil, simmer on medium-low heat (it needs to keep on boiling), add water as needed. When the pot looks like its almost mushy, you know the Hrisseh is ready.
So boys and girls, always ask your mom and listen to your mom. Moms always know best.
Happy mother's day best mom ever, from human and cats.
