Replacement Chef started a Pasta Bar campaign over the weekend hyping up tonight's dinner production.
We both agreed on one outcome - the presentation was incredible.
While I left the bar with a content tummy and spirit, Replacement Chef's assessment of the production was "like a Yaletown restaurant meal, it was over hyped, visually appealing but bland".
"the sauce made with fresh jardin tomatoes promised to be delicious, but turned into a bland tomato sauce".
I personally thought it tasted fresh, healthy, sodium-free and delicious.
Another addition to the bar was a nice warm polish sausages, mushrooms and onions stir fry.
"The idea was to create different layers and flavours, but the pasta bar did not deliver on the hype" repeats Chef.
Replacement Chef felt the only two good flavours on the bar were the polish sausages and the somerville kitchen home made, frozen pesto sauce.
Cats agreed on sausages, but not the pesto.
Chef's summary of the evening: "Pasta Bar, so 80's. One can tolerate the food of them if it surpasses the name. But tonight's pasta bar was hyped and didn't deliver... plus too many pots were dirtied in the process creating it."
I, on the other hand, was grateful to have a Yaletown-style pasta bar come to me.
Thank you Replacement Chef!
