Holiday Kick Off at Kirin

When a group of special work colleagues wanted to kick off the holiday season, a survey of restaurant options resulted in Kirin as the preferred choice.

A 1:30 pm outing made dim sum a perfect choice. A Chinese-origin group member ordered a perfect mix including:

- deep fried prawn, pork, dried shrimp, mushrooms and pickled vegetable dumplings
- steamed prawn dumpings
- crispy asparagus and scallop dumplings
- pan fried rice rolls in soy sauce
- BBQ pork buns
- beef balls
- black pepper spare ribs
- sui mai

My favourites were dim sum dishes I have not tried before: the deep fried prawn, pork, dried shrimp, mushrooms and pickled vegetable dumplings...

... and the crispy asparagus and scallop dumplings.

At the same time, resisting the carb-filled panfried rice rolls in soy sauce was difficult. No wonder I just wanted to have a long nap after this feasting.

And in the spirit of a typical Chinese dim sum outing, the meal is sealed with a noodles dish - the house special deep fried noodles was a perfect choice, even though we needed a waiter to help us serve it given how piled up it was.

All were craving dessert (oh the yummy Chinese mango pudding with cream), but by now the kitchen was closed and a nap was the best next option.

A perfect holiday kick off.
