I tried this lasagna recipe from an old Good Housekeeping Cookbook and it turned out perfect. Here it is.
Step 1: Boil 12 sheets of lasagna.
Step 2: Prepare a rich meat and tomato sauce
- cook 0.5 lb of each of ground beef and ground pork on high heat until browned
- add 1 large can tomatoes and 1 can tomato paste, salt, basil and pepper and bring to boil
- simmer for 30 minutes
Step 3: Prepare white sauce
Melt 3 Tbsp of butter in a pot. Add 3 Tbsp flour and cook a bit.
Now add 1.5 cups milk, cook on low heat while stirring constantly until thickens. Add a bit of nutmeg.
Step 4: Prepare the cheese mix
This includes 4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese; 1 large container of ricotta cheese, 2 eggs and 2 Tbsp chopped parsley.
You are now ready to layer in a 13" x 9" baking dish.
Step 5: Layering in this order
Half of the meat sauce; Half the noodles; Half the cheese, half the white sauce and the rest of the meat sauce
Rest of noodles then rest of cheese and white sauce
Bake for 45 minutes in 375 oven.
Let it rest for at least 15 minutes then cut into it.
It comes out a perfect solid piece.
Enjoy!
