ಬಿಸಿ ಬೇಳೆ ಭಾತ್

"you've just fed me yesterday (read Indian Pizza)" I tell my dear lovely neighbour. "no no, just come over, it is a one dish dinner tonight".

Bisi belé bhath means hot lentil rice; a Bangalore specialty. Who am I to refuse trying something so different.

Simply put, it is rice, red lentils and vegetables (eggplants, carrots, peas and peppers) - cooked with extra water for the right consistency.

A Bisi belé bhath spice mix (only MTR brand will do according to my dear lovely neighbour) is then added and mixed in while still cooking.
Ghee is mixed in at the end for a glaze, followed by fried onions, peanuts and curry leaves.

This was so delicious that I can easily break my passion for variety in food and live happily after on Bisi belé bhath for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

But wait, dinner is not over. My dear lovely neighbour's very talented dessert designer daughter designed the following for us. Spoiled I sure am...
