At last, after seven weekend hours of incompetent plumbers (if you need one, let me know so I tell you who NOT to use), somerville kitchen is completely functional, right in time for Sunday dinner.
After the neighbourhood's cats finished their celebration of the new dishwasher, I took over to celebrate the new stove with a basic Sunday dinner.
A beef roast was thrown into the oven with a "convection roast" function. First lesson of convection cooking - cook for less time than required; the roast, while delicious, was more well done than I aimed for.
The stove top was as efficient; potatoes boiled in less than 30 minutes.
Broccoli was seared in a bit of vegetable oil and sprinkled with lemon, salt and pepper. The gravy was made from the roast sauce and mushrooms mixed in with a gravy powder envelope.
All in all not bad for the first dinner in the new somerville kitchen, prepared 5 hours after the plumber left.
I just love the new stove...
