Wacky Edible Grout

Problem to solve: How to decide what colour grout to use?
Solution: Rather than buy different grout samples, use your kitchen cupboards.

Sprinkle the tile samples with a kitchen cupboard ingredient, clean it up and you get a clear sense of how it will look with that grout colour. Let's start with flour for white grout.

Too boring, how about an orange colour. Here's the turmeric.

Red can be striking. Let's try it with Paprika and find out.

Wonder how a black may look with all the mini black tiles. Dark Brazilian ground coffee.

Final choice? Surprise, but you can let me know what colour combination you like most.

 

Wacky IKEA

Going to IKEA on a Thursday = Instant material for Wacky Thursdays

I cannot believe I stood in line up for 25 minutes to eat IKEA food. But I still had the lower level of the store to roam so, being hungry, I was held hostage by the anticipated finds.

Plus, the food is of decent quality and long line ups means freshly made. And one is paying fast food prices for casual dining platters.

In real life, the new Caribbean basa looked way more appetizing than the picture (and tasted great).

Wacky Simplification

I wanted to push the simplification you have been reading about all week on Wacky Thursdays. 

On Easter this year, I received the sweetest simple gift: a beautiful sardine platter with a sardine tin. This took simplification to an ultimate level - open the can and pour in the plate. Sprinkle with lemon juice and shredded ginger.

A two-minutes meal that looked elegant and tasted rich.

Thank you for an amazing gift.

Wacky Kit Kats

A very thoughtful gift from Japan, a selection of authentic Japanese Kit Kats

 

Where to start? The green one, which may be a matcha or green tea, was my first choice, simply because I like the colour green

But the real taste of chocolate (if any chocolate is actually used in these Wacky Kit Kats) was in the espresso one

But the wackiest Wacky Kit Kat experience came when I opened the pink one. Strawberry  Kit Kat that competes well with strawberry milk shake

I love my Kit Kats no matter what colour they come in. Thank you Japan

  

One Wacky Strawberry

This wacky strawberry is not a fruit. It is a cat.

Strawberry lives in a tiny store with his loving mom. He is very selective as to which customers he replies to when you call him by name. Even more selective which ones he allows to play with him.

No one knows his age. He was rescued by the store owner from a left behind situation. Look how big his paws are and how muscular he is.

While Strawberry may be selective as to who gets the privilege of holding him, everyone loves Strawberry.

Wacky Mango

On Thursdays, somerville kitchen goes wacky (Click on Wacky Thursdays). This is an example of what wacky looks like.

Isn't it gorgeous? (Thank you Replacement Chef). What is it? That's Replacement Chef's secret, but that orange glop is...

 ... an Indian mango jam. Wackilisious.

 

Wacky Mini Cake

It is no secret I adore sweet e's productions, but this mini coconut cake took my adoration level up to the power 10.

It is a white cake with a touch of coconut, covered with cream sprinkled with coconut. 

But most adorable is the size of this cake.

It is mini in a wacky way that makes it a perfect catsess cake - beautifully put together, a pleasure to eat and a cake to dream about buying again (and again).

How I Eat Rice Pudding

Wacky Thursdays and Replacement Chef meet together to bring you a wacky white and creamy snack photography tour.

The basics are simple: Rice pudding, bananas, generous amounts of home made Lebanese rose water and chocolate sprinkles.

However, no matter how hard I try, I cannot seem to be able replicate the visual and taste combinations Replacement Chef produces.
