Meeting place - Boathouse on Kits Beach
Following the view, the oysters were the next best part of the lunch. While oysters go on sale at 3:00 pm, the premium ones run out at the same time.
So we settled for a selection of four of their regular oysters.
Hang on a second, I forgot that the booze was the next best part of the lunch, ahead of oysters.
A nice chilled glass of the hefeweizen kicked off the afternoon, followed by a bottle of the delicious Unleased Geworztraminer from our own Okanagan See Ya Later ranch.
Now come to think of it, ahead of the oysters (but behind the wine) were those tasty Ahi Tuna Tacos treats in crispy wonton shells with some sort of rice, wasabi aioli and mango salsa. Few platters of those should have been lunch.
The mains were a disappointment, specially given the price. A lunch price of this platter of Miso crusted wild halibut is $26.99. The sauce tasted like a store-brand Teriyaki bottle and the fish did not have any flavour to speak of.
But with a view of the beach and a table on the sunny deck, it was a pleasant 3 hours of food, booze and great company.
