My Favourite Places

To your right under Labels there is a new label called Favourite Places. This includes my top favourite 10% of all places featured on somerville kitchen over the years.

Coincidentally enough, I had the privilege to dine at two of my favourite places today.

Even with no complimentary mimosas, Trafalgars Bistro remains one of my favourite places and featured twice on somerville kitchen.

But one menu item I never mentioned are their chickpea fries - think humus sticks deep fried!

But that was lunch. Dinner was a feast at Al-Watan, a regular haunt on Fraser Street and definitely one of my favourite places.

The feasting tonight included Nehari (Pakistani beef dish with distinct taste, served with shredded ginger and chillis), Keema (browned beef with green peas and potatoes), freshly made regular and Aloo (stuffed potatoes) naans.

Talking about favourites, my favourite server in the city works at Al-Watan, but unfortunately he is leaving  the city tonight to get married to an Indian beauty (he showed us the pictures) in India.

What I will miss the most about my favourite server is how my Biryani and Mango Lassi show up on the table as soon as I show my face at Al-Watan.

A list of my favourite places is not complete without Shaktea. You can read 26 stories about Shaktea by clicking on the Shaktea Label to the right.

But you will not find a lot about the special somerville kitchen's Shaktea selection. A series of dozen teas packed specifically for somerville kitchen, tonight's choice was cat satoul nip, an electrifying tea with organic cloves, ginger root, peppermint and licorice root (hint, you can go to Shaktea and ask for Luna's Organic Karmic Peace tea - very close to this).

These were a few of my favourite places. Click HERE for more.
