Lumberjack Meal - The Sequel

The Lumberjack Meal series started back in November when I stumbled upon a great firewood provider (read Lumberjack Meal).

Two months later, this is all that is left of the wood. It was time to call the (most likely) best firewood provider in the city for another batch of wood.

With the same efficient and friendly service of the first time, a truckload of alder and walnut made its way over from the snowy valley today and the shed was filled up again.

And as typical of his service, he throws in a flat of fresh eggs.

Anyone interested in firewood, email me at somervillekitchenwindow@gmail.com and I will forward your contact info.

Very quickly, two fires got going at somerville kitchen. First, a blazing fire was built in the fireplace to warm up this freezing night.

The second fire lit up three grills on the stove to be shared by two chefs tonight.

Replacement chef took over the pancakes given my paranoia with making this stuff.

Using Aunt Jemima batter enhanced with a bit of baking powder (what a great trick), pancakes were flipping on the grill and coming out thick, fluffy and delicious.

On the other side, fresh from the farm eggs, including many double yolks, were  being fried sunny side up.

Similar to the original lumberjack meal, those eggs were amazing - the best I have eaten for decades. Beautiful colour and taste; I'd rather not eat eggs than eat those supermarket tasteless eggs again.

A couple of steaks were grilled as well and a full lumberjack meal was served.

What a warm, delicious meal to provide the needed calories to deal with the -9 temperatures outside.

Even cats managed to get something out of this; massaging himself on the eggs carton.

Thank you B

Thank you Replacement Chef
