Discovering Zaitunay Bay

Zaitunay Bay is the most recently developed part of Beirut.

A marina on the Mediterranean with a beautiful walkway and endless restaurants ranging from Lebanese to Japanese; Indian to French.

The restaurant of choice was Amarres, a cosy French bistro that everyone pronounces its name differently, short of servers on a Sunday afternoon, but slow service meant longer lounging on the waterfront.

The three course lunch started with a large portion of tasty lentils salad - a variety of lentils topped with roast beef.

The main course was a steak with potato gratin and Amarres sauce - a mixture of beef gravy with a bit of cream.

And as if I have not had enough calories by now, the Pain Perdu is a 10 cm by 10 cm piece of fresh bread, soaked with sweetness, covered with a thin layer of caramel, pistachio and ice cream. Yes, I ate it all too.

But nothing will beat the view, the smell of the sea, the sunny skies and 18 degrees temperatures.

The clouds are making their way over; good for a day of resting both body and stomach tomorrow (or would I?)
