Wacky Cereal - Four

The Wacky Cereal saga continues with Frosted Flakes. (Read Wacky Cereal ONE, TWO, & THREE).

Actually, Frosted Flakes is my favourite Kellogg's cereal.

Now the premise of frosted flakes is sugar (or at least that is what comes to my mind when I think of those).

But let's take sugar to a higher level and use icing sugar.

It mixed incredibly well with the milk and was my favourite wacky cereal concoction.

And this brings us to the end of the Wacky Cereal Saga. Thank you for following!

Another Picnic

Picnic season continues, but today's picnic was at sunset.

It tried to be glamorous but not sure we succeeded.

But the wine was good, the company exceptional and the food, an experiment, turned out very good; I have to admit.

Dinner, after a spread of appetizers, was:

Home made fatoush

Freekeh cooked with chicken broth

Chicken and potatoes baked in garlic lemon sauce.

Delicious.

And a Trafiq cake was the icing on the cake!

A Picnic

On a summer day, one crosses the street and finds a picnic ready.

It is more like an Indian Style brunch prepared by, who else, but My Dear Lovely Neighbour.

What was served was unique, tasty, spicy.

The hostess generous and warm and the picnic kicked into a gear a pleasant day.

Thank you My Dear Lovely Neighbour.

A Product Worth Endorsing

This bag is one of the best products I found at any Vancouver bakery.

It is sweet e's'  bag of chocolate chips cookies.

The best quality flour, sugar, chocolate chips - all packed up for you. There are very clear instructions on the back.

It is not 100% open and bake - you still need to do some work, like adding some butter, eggs and milk.

But it is worth it.

So why, you ask, would I pay for this when chocolate chips cookies' recipes are all over the web?

Because, I answer, you get a professional bakeress' measurements, the best chocolate chips to add, and they bake so perfect, you cannot stop eating them.

Dinner Delivery

A fascinating 70's lady sent me a bag for dinner.

The bag held a casserole, freshly made, in a beautiful pie dish.

What kind of casserole, not sure. It is East European, with yummy ingredients and above average cholesterol levels.

What were those ingredients?

Sausages, potatoes, eggs, cream, sour cream, cheese, butter, more on those lines.

Heavy, but yummy and most important an extremely thoughtful gesture from someone who I should send dinner to not the other way around.

Thank you E.

Orchids

Are orchids edible?

Maybe not, but that does not stop me from featuring them on the blog.

You see, discovering all the orchid varieties at the Vancouver Orchid Society was so fascinating that I could not stop myself from sharing.

I did not take notes, so I cannot contribute much in terms of what I learnt.

But the pictures can tell the key takeaway from the show - there are way more varieties of orchids out there than most of us realize. And they are all beautiful.

Enjoy.

Les Jardins De Somerville

The peak of jardin crop were put to use this week.

The last of the jardin parsley and chives were picked.

One neighbour dropped off her jardin pride eggplant (see how perfect it is).

The other neighbour dropped off tomatoes.

One more crop, fresh mint, was added to the equation.

The output: A perfect bowl of Tabouleh and deep fried fresh eggplant.

Still another neighbour added some cooked food to the mix  - what a pleasant vegetarian night this was.
