Gain Wah

I have been to Gain Wah over a dozen times in the past three years and it remains one of the better lower priced Chinese restaurants in the city. Despite all those visits, the order is always the same.

A big bowl of congee with Chinese donuts. Most of the time, including tonight, the congee is perfect in consistency and flavour. The Chinese donuts, thought, are not the best in the city.

Then our customized chow mein - vegetables, tofu and beef, with the chow mein crunchy.

And the greasy, but yummy, chicken curry on rice.  Usually it has more chicken than potatoes, which is not my preference, but tonight, the potatoes were in abundance. Yum.

And all for a total of $17.50 including taxes, friendly and fast service by the owner, and among a very colourful crowd of diners.
