Meats & Meals - A Must Try

A follower wrote me a note earlier this week about a discovery on Main Street called Citygate Meats & Meals. This person stumbled upon this place and loved the owner (who is also the cook), the food and the whole pleasant experience. I could not resist but trying it today and it was all that it promised to be and more. Read on...

I walked into this place with fresh meats on one side and prepared meals on the other and packed with welcoming friendly people. The owner and cook is a lovely lady from Uganda who could not be more hospitable nor a better cook. I packed up a picnic and brought it home, made some Basmati rice and enjoyed an amazing food experience.

The butter chicken tasted fresh, with lots of layers of flavours and a perfect level of spiciness enhanced by a bit of cilantro in the sauce. The minced beef and potatoes had a nice thick texture and subtle, yet strong hot spice that I could not identify - I loved how tiny the pieces of potatoes were and how all were cut the same shape and size, she must have spent hours doing this.

The salad was unique and delicious, with cilantro and subtle spices in the vinegar.
The sweetest part of the experience was when I was trying to decide between chicken and beef samosas, she said "take one of each, cut them in half and share them with your loved one, it increases unity this way". A wonderful little hidden treasure on Main Street, a must try.
