The first thing you do is walk over a hand painted Persian carpet on the cement floor, leading you directly to the Valentine room (the part of the secret garden that was built on valentine day, thus the name).
Beautiful plants under huge walnut and fig trees, along with all sorts of eclectic art pieces, hand made objects and collectables promised for a memorable evening.
And it sure was memorable, tasty and fun evening for all. Thank you FaP!
Fancy hors d'oeuvres French style launched the evening with:
- Foie gras brought in from France, a rarity in our city these days.
- Rillettes, also directly from France, which is similar to pate, but more of a rustic shredded texture to it.
Dinner was a melt-in-your mouth ribs with BBQ sauce that, to enhance the flavour, were baked with cooked pork chops in the pan.
The mashed potatoe was also enhanced, with a combination of cream and Boursin cheeses making for an amazing texture and taste.
After touring more secret paths and jardins, dessert was brought out in the form of a flourless chocolate silk cake from sweet e's (see yesterday's Discovering Kerrisdale).
Despite being flourless, it tasted just like a cake, albeit with an unbeatable delicious chocolate freshness.
Indeed, a very very pleasant evening under the chandelier!
Thank you again FaP!
