A New Downtown Lunch Discovery

A new downtown lunch discovery along Robson Street.

With big portion lunch specials at $8.95 that come with soup options (and for an extra $1.00 spring rolls), you are eating better food than any food court.

And with three of us, we managed to sample a few and eat lots.

Hot & Sour Soup w/Chicken & Shrimp

Good portions, lighter broth than many I tried. When you first taste it, it does not strike you as very "hot". But the more you have the more of a "hot" aftertaste you feel.

Vegetable and Pork Spring Rolls

Definitely freshly made, nice crunch. Nothing really fancy or special about them but taste better than the fast food court spring rolls.

Ginger Beef

By far the best main dish that came out (even though they almost forgot about it). Crunchy, nice spicing, hot balanced by sweetness of orange rinds. Ginger taste not too overwhelming. A repeat.

Diced Chicken in Chilli, Sour & Garlic Sauce w/Spinach & Rice

Not bad at all. The garlic is too much, the spinach nicely done. It came out first so we attacked it and made a real dent in the platter. May not order it again, but only because there are other options worth trying.

Won Ton with Red Pepper & Peanut Sauce & Rice

My choice contribution to satisfy my quest for food experimentation backfired on us.

The peanut sauce is too thick to be enjoyed over rice. It may have been a different story mixed with noodles. Not a repeat.
