Pancake Craze @ somerville kitchen

The original dinner plan was to use a bunch of vegetables and prepare a stir-fry.

But memories of last night's Lumberjack meal (see full story at The Sequel) kept on coming back. One idea was to crack an egg into the stir fry, but that seemed like a waste of delicious eggs.

Chinese-style fried pancakes came to mind (which I attempted in the past and failed miserably at making). So a pancake mix seemed like a good start to create some version of those.

And pancake mix turned into batter, BBQ pork chopped into tiny pieces, shallots cooked and now what?

Well, why not mix it all together in the batter, grill those pancakes and let's see what we will get.

They looked beautiful with the colour of the meat and shallots in them. They grilled perfectly. The taste you ask? Well, nothing to attempt again nor anywhere close to what you would eat in a Chinese restaurant.

The stir fry on the other hand was delicious. The pancakes were a novelty. The process was lots of fun.

At the end of the day it is not whether it turns out good or not, it is the act of getting there that makes being in a kitchen that much much.

Any ideas for other pancake experimentation? Please leave me a comment and I will be on it, with pictures, a blog feature, and who knows, maybe a little gift coming your way as a thank you for the idea and the fun.
