More Summer Snacking

Two weeks ago, I had fun writing Summer Snacking. So what's a better way to start a week of vacation than having fun writing another one of those.

Fried cauliflower, home made potato chips, humus and jardin tabouleh.

What's special about this snack is that the tabouleh was enjoyed with fresh grape vine leaves. I love this combo.

Special afternoon with friends on the picnic table.

Turkish coffee was made. Spritzers' brought out of the fridge and delicious Trafiq sweets were added into the mix.

But the real fun of summer snacking is post coffee drinking - reading one's future in the coffee cup.

If you have never read a coffee cup, what you see below is a pathway of mountains with a beautiful face of an oriental princess bearing sweet times (and sweet goodies as you can read in Amira Helweh).

It also shows a stove, a big pot, a big bag of basmati rice.

Coffee cups never lie. I came home one night to a delicious Iranian rice with crispy potatoes underneath (see exhibit A below).

It was served with a special version of Fatoush (see exhibit B below). The vegetables were cut in tiny pieces and the pita bread on top was deep fried rather than baked.

Wonder what other delicacies are hiding in this coffee cup that I don't know about? Well, one never knows what the future holds, so let's enjoy today for now.

And the final summer snacking for this week is a home made guacamole - the easiest thing to make in the whole wide world.

Avocado, chopped tomatoes, chilli peppers, onions, lime juice and voila.
