Wacky Thursdays were at the Theatre this Thursday with probably one of the best musical productions I have ever seen - Arts Club production of Xanadu. It is all that the below promises and more.
Nine talented local artists with amazing energy and chemistry with each other - having fun and entertaining us at the same time.
A satirical take on the movie (although kept to the movie premise way more than Mary Poppins did), the play was light, witty, funny, happy and worth seeing again.
And yes, there were roller skates, disco ball and Xanadu sign; and not enough of each I would add.
Okay, back to food.
Pre-theatre snack was a ham & cheese snadwich from Granville Island market. Good enough, but not $10.02 good.
I am sure the cats roaming the Island would have found me better value.
Post-theatre snack was a burger at Romer's in Kitsilano. Good burger, but at a price of loud music and immature server.
Now you know why there's more share of space on today's article for Xanadu than for food.
So listen to your trusted somerville kitchen, stop reading now (there's not much left to read anyways) and head down to Granville Island for tonight's performance of Xanadu.
And don't forget your roller skates.
