Dining on a Burnt Turmeric Root

My dear lovely neighbour invented, dazzled and impressed her diners one more time.

To the smells of spring and the aroma of South Indian cooking, guests were educated about spices. 

Did you know that...

Turmeric comes from a root, and burning the root can clear up sinus?

Allspice is not a mixture of spices but, just like pepper, comes from an allspice cone?

Arabica gum can be used to thicken and add flavour?


The potato samosas were served with the best hot and sweet sauce I have ever tasted.


The potato and eggplant curry was so authentically and tastefully spiced that you could not stop eating despite the burning tongue and eyes.


And Pakoras will never taste the same plain after trying them soaked in this curry sauce creation.
