Kafta Lebanese Style

I was craving Kafta. I made Kafta. I am sharing mom's Kafta recipe.

Kafta refers to the meat base - ground beef, grated onions and finely chopped parsley. No other spices except salt and pepper.

Mix all and you have the Kafta base that can be cooked in different ways.

Tonight's version is Kafta bi Saneyyeh (Kafta in a tray). Real easy:

1. Spread the meet into a thick (1/2") layer in a baking dish.
2. Bake at 375 until cooked (about 30 - 40 minutes).
3. Meanwhile, boil some potatoes and cut in thick slices.
4. Add on top of the cooked meat, drizzle tomato sauce on top and bake for another 5 - 10 minutes.

Another variation on this is to replace the tomato sauce with tomato slices, drizzle with lemon juice and return to the oven to bake a bit more. And yet another version with Tahini sauce, but that is for another day.

Served alongside rice and lettuce/tomato salad. Simple tasty meal, give it a try.
